What does the three blue droplets symbol on the UI mean?

The three water droplets light will flash blue when you need to refill the Clean Solution Tank.

What does the three red droplets and area rug symbols on the UI mean?

The Area Rug and Three Water Droplets lights will flash red alternatingly when the brushroll is blocked. Remove the nozzle cover, brushroll, and Dirty Water Tank. Check the air path for any blockages. If these two symbols are blinking at the same time then that means the brush roll garage door is removed. Ensure that the bottom latches of the garage door are properly inserted in the slots.

What is the difference between the Hydrovac and the VacMop?

The Shark HydroVac vacuums, mops and cleans itself with powerful suction & hydro mopping at the same time. It deep cleans hard floors and cleans area rugs. Includes a continuously self-cleaning, antimicrobial brushroll; 2-tank system to separate clean & dirty water; LED display and multi-surface concentrate with odor neutralizer technology. The VacMop is meant for hard floors only, and requires individual usage of the vacuum and mop feature.

Can I use the Hydrovac to clean area rugs?

Yes, the Hydrovac is designed to clean your area rugs, as well as your hard floors.

Does the brush scratch surfaces?

No, it does not. The brushroll is designed to clean your hard floors and area rugs without damaging them. It is recommended to test the unit on a sensitive area during first time use.

What kind of floor it can be used on?

The Hydrovac can be used on hard floors such as sealed woods, tile, vinyl, as well as low pile area rugs.

Can this be used for dry vacuuming? Can you just vacuum without using water?

The Hydrovac can not be used for dry vacuuming. There must be fluid in the Clean Solution Tank for the unit to run. The unit will turn off and indicate when you have run out of cleaning solution.

Can you use a third party cleaning solution?

It is not recommended that you use third party cleaning solutions with the Hydrovac. The Hydrovac Multi Surface Cleaning Solution is specifically designed for this system to optimize cleaning performance. Third party cleaning solutions will lead to foaming, streaking and false triggering of the dirty water sensors

How much does the Hydrovac weigh?

The Hydrovac weighs  approximately 10 lbs.

What are the dimensions of the Hydrovac?

The dimensions of the Hydrovac are11.06 in L x 9.81 in W x 43.73 in H

What is wattage of the Hydrovac?

The wattage of the HydroVac is 2 Watts

What are the Clean Solution Tank and Dirty Water Tank capacities?

The Clean Solution Tank capacity is 0.36L or 0.5L depending on the version of the Hydrovac you buy. 

The Dirty Water Tank capacity is 0.36L.

Does the water have to be at a specific temperature for cleaning?

The temperature can be between 40 degrees F and 95 degrees F. Normal tap water is good to use for cleaning. Please do not use boiling water as this may damage internal parts.

Can you adjust the flow of water coming out?

You can adjust the flow by changing between Everyday mode and Area Rug mode. Each mode is optimized for the corresponding surface type.

Does this unit suck up animal hair?

Yes, the Hydrovac can pick up animal hair and move it to the Dirty Water Tank.

Does animal hair get wrapped around the roller?

Normally, this will not happen due to the brushroll diameter and the general length of pet hair. If there is a tangle around the brushroll, take out the brushroll and remove the hair wrapped around it. Be careful not to damage the brushroll if you use any sharp tools.

Can I use bleach in the machine to clean floors?

We do not recommend using bleach as it may damage the unit.

How long is the warranty?

The warranty is 3 years long.

How to run a self-cleaning cycle?

1. Dirty Water Tank should be empty. 

2. Clean Solution Tank should be at least ½ full. 

3. It should be docked and connected to a power outlet.

4. Once you’re ready, press and release the Power button to initiate the Self-Clean Cycle.

              If it doesn’t proceed to the cycle, and the

                       i. blue water droplets flash, it is indicating you don’t have enough water in the Clean Solution Tank. Fill the Clean Solution Tank, and                              retry running the Self-Clean Cycle.

                       ii. red water droplets flash, it is indicating the dirty water tank is full. Remove and empty the Dirty Water Tank. Remount the Dirty                                     Water Tank, and retry running the Self-Clean Cycle.

5. Once Cleaning Cycle is complete (should take about 2 full minutes), remove and empty the Dirty Water Tank. It’s recommended to also rinse the [dirty water tank, solid parts trap, and the foam filter] and dry before reinstalling onto the HydroVac™. 

Do I need to clean the unit after running the Self Clean cycle?

Generally self-clean cycle will take care of all internal cleaning of the unit. It is a good practice to check for debris stuck behind the brushroll. To do this please open the brushroll cover and remove the brushroll from it's slot. If there is debris present, please clean with a paper towel. Be careful to not use any rough cleaning tool that could damage parts during cleaning.

How to replace the filter and how often?

Replace the filter every 6 Months 

To replace the filter:

Remove the dirty water tank, press the release button and pull out the tank. 

Remove the filter housing from the dirty water tank. 

Insert the new filter and reinstall the dirty water tank into the unit. 

How to replace the brushroll and how often?

The brushroll should be replaced after 6 months.

To access the brushroll, press the button on the top of the nozzle and lift off the brushroll cover. 

Remove the brushroll by pulling up on the pull tab on the left side of the nozzle. 

Insert the new brushroll by lining up the grooves on the end of the brushroll with the helix on the inner right side of the nozzle, then press down on the left side of the brushroll. When properly installed, the brushroll tab will be flush with the left side of the nozzle.

To reinstall the brushroll cover, insert the tabs on the cover into the slots on the nozzle. Press down on the cover until it clicks into place. 

How to clean the brushroll?

You can clean the brushroll by hand as an alternative to the self-clean cycle, and to remove debris or hair wrapped around the brushroll. 

To access the brushroll, press the button on the top of the nozzle and lift off the brushroll cover. 

Remove the brushroll by pulling up on the pull tab on the left side of the nozzle. Wipe away any debris stuck on the back wall. Wash thoroughly with warm water. Allow the brushroll to air-dry completely in a well-ventilated area for at least 24 hours. 

Reinsert the brushroll by lining up the grooves on the end of the brushroll with the helix on the inner right side of the nozzle, then press down on the left side of the brushroll. When properly installed, the brushroll tab will be flush with the left side of the nozzle.

To reinstall the brushroll cover, insert the tabs on the cover into the slots on the nozzle. Press down on the cover until it clicks into place. 

How to clean the dirty water tank?

To remove the dirty water tank, press the release button and pull out the tank. 

To dispose of liquid waste only, pour it out though the Easy Pour spout on the back of the dirty water tank. 

To dispose of solid debris, lift out the Solids Separator. Grasp the recessed areas on the sides of the separator and lift it out. Empty the solid debris into the trash. If any liquid waste remains in the tank, pour it down a drain. To clean, rinse the separator and the tank with water. 

Clean the filter housing and the foam filter after every use. Pull out the foam filter and hand-wash with warm water and soap. Allow the foam filter to air-dry completely in a wellventilated area for 24 hours before reinstalling back into the unit.
