This article contains the FAQs for the ICZ362H Shark® Vertex™ Pro Cordless Vacuum.

Is the battery removable?

The battery on the ICZ3XXH Series is removable and can only be charged off the unit. To remove the battery lift the handle on top of the battery and pull up from the unit.

What do the lights on the battery mean?

The first and last LED lights are flashing: Battery temperature is not optimal, so charging is temporarily paused. Leave battery plugged in and charging will resume soon. If the first 2 or last 2 LED lights are flashing, call Customer Service (1-800-798-7398).

How do I charge the battery and how long does it take to charge?

Charge the battery by plugging the charger into the port on the handheld vacuum. Use only Shark® chargers and charging docks as other chargers may damage the unit or fail to charge it. The battery should take approximately 3.5 hours to reach a full charge.

How long will the battery run?

The initial charge on the pack (out of the box) is approximately 30%. Prior to first use, charge completely. During first use, run the battery down until it is completely out of power. This will condition the battery. These runtimes are based on new fully charged battery:

• Handheld vacuum in ECO mode: approximately 60 minutes

• Handheld vacuum in BOOST mode: approximately 10 minutes

• Bare Floor ECO mode: approximately 40 minutes

• Bare Floor mode with BOOST: approximately 25 minutes

• Carpet mode: approximately 30 minutes

• Carpet mode with BOOST: approximately 10 minutes Like all lithium-ion products, the battery will naturally decrease in capacity over time.

The battery seems to have a shorter runtime than expected. What should I do?

Out of the box, the initial battery charge is approximately 30%. Prior to first use, charge completely. During first use, run the battery down until it is completely out of power. This will condition the battery. Note that battery runtime is affected by the duration of use and the type of surface being cleaned. For example, vacuuming a thick carpet in Boost mode will result in shorter runtime than vacuuming bare floors.

What does it mean if an error code is displayed?

If an error code appears, see the chart in the Troubleshooting section of the Owner's Guide for more information.

• F8 - nozzle motor has overheated. Wait 60 minutes to allow the nozzle to cool down. Clear debris from unit/nozzle while waiting.

• E6 - red Filter icon flashing, headlights and motor are off: the unit has a clog. Search for clog and clean unit.

What if the battery is warm to the touch or indicates that it's too warm to charge?

The battery may feel warm during use. This is normal as batteries increase in temperature slightly during discharge. If the battery feels uncomfortably warm, stop using the vacuum and allow the battery to cool. Plug the charger into the battery port and check the indicator lights on the handheld vacuum for error codes. If the battery is too warm to charge, the first and third LEDs will blink. Leave the battery plugged in and charging will resume automatically when the battery has reached a normal temperature. If the battery is too warm after use, the charger will pause until the battery cools before it begins charging.

When and how do I clean the filters?

Filters may need to be cleaned if the vacuum stops picking up dirt, if airflow is restricted, or if you notice decreased or no suction. For optimal performance, clean the filters regularly. Rinse them with water only. Do not use soap. Allow all filters to air-dry completely before reinstalling. Between cleanings, lightly tap filters over a trash receptacle to remove dust and debris as needed. Rinse the pre-motor foam and felt filters every month, or as needed.

• Slide down Filter Door release button.

• Tilt filter door and lift off.

• Remove the filter and frame, then pull the foam filter off the frame.

• Rinse foam filter with lukewarm water ONLY and leave to air-dry for at least 24 hours or until completely dry.

• Once completely dry, slide the foam filter back onto the frame.

• Holding the pull tabs, push the frame back into the pod.

• Reinsert bottom of filter door into slots on pod. Tilt door to close, pressing until it clicks into place. Rinse the post-motor HEPA filter every 12 months, or as needed.

• Pull up on HEPA Post-Motor Filter access tab to remove.

• Rinse filter with lukewarm water ONLY and leave to air-dry at least 24 hours or until completely dry before reinstalling.

• When dry, reinsert HEPA Post-Motor Filter and press down until it clicks into place.

Note: Battery must be removed before HEPA Post-Motor Filter can be removed.

When and how do I empty the dust cup?

For optimal performance, empty the dust cup each time you vacuum, or when debris reaches the MAX FILL line.

• To remove Dust Cup, slide up the release tabs on both sides. Tilt the dust cup away from pod, and lift to remove.

• Position the dust cup over a trash receptacle, then open the bottom dust cup door by sliding the CleanTouch™ Dirt Ejector slider forward.
